Proven to be one of the most important steps in your routine - moisturizing keeps the skin balanced, plump, and protected, while promoting a more youthful appearance.
We get asked this all the time... do I use a face oil or face cream to moisturize? The answer is both!
Our Jojoba Glow Face Oil and Velvet Botanical Moisturizer are both intensely nourishing, yet serve different functions to keep the skin hydrated and healthy. Learn the important distinctions between the two to provide your skin with the exact benefits it needs, when it needs it.
What's The Difference?
Face oils typically have a simpler formula than creams, and should contain the purest form of the oil as their primary ingredient. Rich in antioxidants, face oils are highly concentrated and require only a few drops per application.
Cream moisturizers are formulated with a blend of water, oils, and emulsifiers which bind the ingredients together for a thicker texture. The high water content provides long-lasting hydration to the skin, combined with active ingredients that deliver skin-enhancing benefits over time.
A complete skincare ritual combines cream and oil, morning and night, to achieve optimal moisturization.
Our Jojoba Glow Face Oil is formulated with the highest possible grade of 100% pure, cold-pressed Jojoba Oil and enriched with our signature skin-enhancing blend of essential oils.
Jojoba is what makes our face oil so unique. Unlike other skincare oils, Jojoba is a liquid crystalline wax, a molecular structure that is very similar to the oils our skin naturally produces. It absorbs faster than other skincare oils and moisturizes without clogging pores or leaving behind a greasy residue. It's safe and effective for all skin-types, even oily skin.
Jojoba Oil functions as both an occlusive and an emollient, meaning it seals moisture in the skin and prevents water loss for long-lasting hydration. Its natural emollience nourishes and softens, while strengthening the skin barrier and promoting the appearance of natural repair.
Pro Tip: Our Jojoba Glow Face Oil also functions as a full-body hydrator. Use on hands, elbows, and any other areas that are prone to dryness.
Our Velvet Botanical Moisturizer is a silky-smooth blend of water-rich organic Aloe Leaf Juice, cold-pressed Jojoba Oil, and special climate adaptive emulsifiers. The unique, climate adaptive formulation adapts to any level of humidity in the environment to keep skin perfectly comforted and hydrated.
The cream is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and vegetable-derived Glycerin, humectants that attract water molecules and draw moisture to the skin. The infusion of Hyaluronic Acid also repairs skin cells damaged by UV and creates a protective barrier against free radicals and pollution.
Unlike Jojoba Oil which absorbs almost instantly into the skin with a dewy finish, the Velvet Botanical Moisturizer's light, whipped cream texture drys on the skin with a matte finish, ideal for wearing under sunscreen or makeup.
Which Do I Apply First?
The answer may surprise you... our Jojoba Glow Face Oil should always be applied before the Velvet Botanical Moisturizer.
Jojoba's unique, "liquid wax" structure absorbs more quickly than other skincare oils, so it won't block the hydrating effects of the Velvet Botanical Moisturizer. If you follow the rule of "light to heavy" with skincare application, remember that Jojoba Oil has a small molecular structure that is lighter in weight than a cream.
Looking for a simpler routine? Or a quick hydration boost before running out the door? Try mixing a few drops of Jojoba Face Oil directly with the moisturizer for an even richer cream.
